Day 1: Monday 14th June 2010
We depart London Heathrow to New Delhi, overnight during the flight
and arriving the following morning.

2: Tuesday 15th June 2010
Arrive at Delhi Airport and pass through Immigration before we transfer
to our city centre hotel. Afternoon is free to explore the city.

3: Wednesday 16th June 2010
We make an early morning transfer to the airport to join our flight
to Leh. The flight is just over an hour long and arrives in Leh
at 0740. We transfer to our hotel. The remainder of the day is free.

4: Thursday 17th June 2010
We have a day at leisure to acclimatise to the altitude. During
the day a tour of the city will be arranged.

5: Friday 18th June 2010
After breakfast we drive to Uletokpo. This drive will allow us to
witness the fantastic Himalayan scenery and visit the Likir monastery.

6: Saturday 19th June 2010
We spend the day visiting the local area allowing us to photograph
the amazing lunar type landscape and visit the Lamayuru monastery.

7: Sunday 20th June 2010
We return to Leh via Alchi, deemed to be the most important cultural
site in the Himalayas. The afternoon is at leisure in Leh.

8: Monday 21st June 2010
In the morning we visit the small town of Shey before driving the
short distance to Thiksey Gompa where we will enjoy the spectacular
Hemis Festival.

9: Tuesday 22nd June 2010
We spend a full day at the Hemis Festival. The festival is celebrated
in the commemoration of the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava.
During the festival, the Lamas gather around the central flagpole
in the courtyard of the monastery and perform mask dances and sacred
plays.

10: Wednesday 23rd June 2010
Today we travel north from Leh over the highest driveable road and
the Khardungla Pass (5570m) to the Nubra Valley. On our way we visit
the Diskit Village.

11: Thursday 24th June 2010
We explore Hunder Village through a gorgeous stretch of sand dunes.
The main attractions in this area are the Bactrian Double Humped
Camels. This is the ancient Silk route and these animals descend
from those that were abandoned by the traders.

12: Friday 25th June 2010
We explore Hunder village in the morning before driving the short
distance to the Nubra Valley. We then continue on to Panamik which
used to be the last major settlement before the trading caravans
entered into the mountains of Karakoram.

13: Saturday 26th June 2010
We make the return drive to Leh arriving around lunch time. This
will allow us time for a final exploration of the town in the afternoon.

14: Sunday 27th June 2010
We make the return flight to Delhi arriving at 0930hrs. After transferring
to the hotel the remainder of the day is free.

We make an early morning transfer for our flight back to London.
We arrive in London in the early evening.
Agra
– Taj Mahal Extension
27th June - 30th June 2010

Situated about
five hours drive from Delhi, the city of Agra is a wonderful destination
for photography. The jewel in the crown, not only of this city but
the whole of India, is the amazing Taj Mahal. The Taj is a mausoleum
built by Shah Jahan Alamgir for his wife Mumtaz in 1631 and is perhaps
the most famous building in the world. For the photographer it is
a paradise, with its ornate construction of marble that is inlaid
with semi precious stones the building seems to change moods with
the light of the day. We will fully explore the whole complex during
our time here. With visits at dawn and dusk we will be able to capture
the changing moods of the Taj. We will also find time to visit the
Red Fort, another great location situated overlooking the banks
of the Yamuna River.

14: Sunday 27th June 2010
We make the return flight to Delhi arriving at 0930hrs. After transferring
to the hotel we join our transfer for the drive to Agra. We arrive
in time to enjoy the sun setting over the Taj Mahal.

15: Monday 28th June 2010
We make a pre-dawn start to drive to the Yamuna River on the opposite
bank to the Taj. Here we witness the sun rise over the Taj. We then
visit the Red Fort returning later in the afternoon for a visit
inside the Taj Mahal where we watch the sun go down.

16: Tuesday 29th June 2010
We make a pre-dawn visit to the Taj Mahal to enjoy the spectacular
sunrise. After breakfast we make our return journey to Delhi. The
evening is free to explore.

We make an early morning transfer for our flight back to London.
