1: Monday 22nd November 2010
We fly from London to Albuquerque, New Mexico and transfer to our
city centre motel.

2: Tuesday 23rd November 2010
After breakfast we enjoy a glimpse of the Route 66 heritage of the
city before we head west along Route 66 to Grants visiting Laguna
and other iconic location en route. Overnight we will stay in the
historic El Rancho Motel.

3: Wednesday 24th November 2010
We continue along Route 66 visiting the Petrified Forest National
Park and the Painted Desert. Our overnight stay will be in the iconic
Wigwam Motel complete with its collection of veteran cars.

4: Thursday 25th November 2010
We spend the early morning exploring Holbrook before we head east
through the Cibola National Forest to the Very Large Array (VLA)
of Radio Telescopes.

Day
5: Friday 26th November 2010
We spend our first day in Bosque del Apache enjoying the thousands
of bird that winter in the refuge. We will visit for dawn, returning
for breakfast and visit again at various times of the day, culminating
in the dusk return of the geese and cranes.

6: Saturday 27th November 2010
We spend our second day in Bosque del Apache photographing the hundreds
of thousands of birds that winter in the refuge. We will visit for
dawn to see the snow geese and sandhill cranes leave their roost
in the lake to feed in the nearby fields. We return for breakfast
and visit at various times of the day culminating in the dusk return
of the geese and cranes.

7: Sunday 28th November 2010
We make a pre-dawn start to witness sunrise in Bosque del Apache
before heading south to the White Sands National Monument. We spend
the evening in the dunes.

Day
8: Monday 29th November 2010
We make a pre-dawn start to witness sunrise in White Sands. We then
have our second evening visit to enjoy the late light. The remainder
of the day will be spent around Alamogordo.

9: Tuesday 30th November 2010
We take another visit to the White Sands dunes to explore the light
throughout the day.

10: Wednesday 1st December 2010
We spend dawn in White Sands before journeying north to Carrizozo
and Socorro. We will arrive in time for an evening visit to Bosque
del Apache.

11: Thursday 2nd December 2010
We spend our final day in Bosque del Apache where we will photograph
the birds on the refuge. We will visit for dawn and visit at various
times of the day ending at the dusk return of the geese and cranes.

12: Friday 3rd December 2010
We make a dawn start to witness the sunrise over Bosque del Apache
before we journey north to Albuquerque. The afternoon will be spent
visiting the city and will include the Old Town and a visit to the
Route 66 Café.

13: Saturday 4th December 2010
We depart for the airport and our return journey back to London.

14: Sunday 5th December 2010
We arrive the next morning having lost 7 hours on our return journey.
