Iceland - Full Circle
Sunday 1st to Sunday 15th October 2023
Tour Cost £3,500 (Plus flights) (TBC)

Iceland is home to many breathtaking locations that offer real excitement to the photographer. After a number of successful tours to Iceland we are now offering a tour that takes us right around the island, exploring lots of the remoter areas on the eastern and northern side of this unique island.

We will take an anticlockwise route following Highway 1 as it circumnavigates Iceland. We will of course be making many detours on the way to visit more remote and exciting locations. The first part of our tour takes us along the popular southern coast of Iceland and we will take in many of the highlights along this part of the country. We’ll be visiting the grand waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss as well as many lesser known falls. We will enjoy a visit to the Black Beach at Vik with its powerful seas and jutting rocks and to the magical Jokulsarlon Lagoon and iceberg beach, all of which will offer great photography. As we reach the eastern extent of Highway 1 we’ll visit Hofn and Stokksnes where we spend time photographing this dramatic area, including the majestic Vesturhorn.

From Hofn our journey swings north along the eastern side of Iceland, a more remote and less visited part of the island. This will take us through Hvalnes, Djupivogur and Fasksrudfjordur. As the journey continues north we will pass the shores of Reydarfjordur with detours to Eskifjordur and Seydisfjordur before reaching Egilsstadur. This will be our base for two nights as we explore the remote north-east region of Iceland with visits to Unafos, Djardvik and Bakkagardi, before heading east to Seydisfjordur.

From here we turn west across the northern part of Iceland to Lake Myvatn through the mountainous interior. Our route takes us through Gausstaddir, Vididalur and Hrossaborg before arriving at Lake Myvatn where we spend two nights. From here we will explore the magnificent waterfalls of Detifoss and Selfoss as well the shores of the lake.

As we continue west we visit the amazing waterfall of Godafoss taking time to explore along the east and west banks. Our journey then takes us north from Highway 1 to the coastal town Husavik and this will allow us to explore around Oxarfjordur. From here we head south to rejoin Highway 1 with another chance to visit the mighty Godafoss before we head to Akureyri, our next overnight stop. From here we can also explore along the western side of Eyafjordur.

We then head south to Borgarnes detouring for a visit to the coastal town of Saudarkrokur to explore Skagafjordur. The route takes us past the Vatnsnes Peninsular on our journey through the north western section of Iceland. For our final full day we will explore Pingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss on our journey to Keflavik. This part of the journey will take us through the town of Sellfoss and Grindavik as we follow the coast on our journey to Keflavik and our final night in Iceland.

The following day we will make our way to the airport for our return to London. Dependent on the time of our flight we may have an opportunity to explore the coastline to the north of the airport before our flight home.
