We spend the day in Mexico City exploring the historical city with a tour that may include a visit to one of the Mayan ruins, before we fly to Oaxaca in the evening.

Friday 30th October 2009
We will enjoy a city tour as well as a visit to the local market of Ocotlan de Moreleos. The town will of course be preparing for the festival.

Day 4:
Saturday 31st October 2009
We will enjoy a city tour as well as a visit to the world famous Zapotec sites of Monte Albán and Mitla, renowned for their finely preserved monuments.

Day 5:
Sunday 1st November 2009
Perhaps the highlight of our visit to Oaxaca is the day spent in the local villages as they celebrate the “Day of the Dead”.

Day 6:
Monday 2nd November 2009
We transfer by air to the Central Mexican city of San Cristóbal. As we travel from the airport we find time to visit the magnificent Sumidero Canyon. The remainder of the day is for independent exploration.

Tuesday 3rd November 2009
We travel to the church of San Juan Chamula to explore with the remainder of the time is spent exploring local villages and markets.

Wednesday 4th November 2009
Today is a free day for rest and relaxation or independent exploration of San Cristóbal.

Thursday 5th November 2009
We travel overland to Palenque via the waterfalls of Agua Azul and Misol-Ha with ample time for photography en-route.

Friday 6th November 2009
We have a day exploring the fascinating town of Palenque with its ancient Mayan ruins that appear to grow from the jungle. Here one can find some of the best situated Mayan buildings in Mexico.

Saturday 7th November 2009
We have a 5 hour overland drive across the mountains to Campeche and we plan to visit the famous Hacienda Uayamon for lunch.

Sunday 8th November 2009
We spend the morning in Campeche visiting the town and market. The remainder of the day is free to explore or relax.

Day 13:
Monday 9th November 2009
We make the overland drive to Merida, situated on the Gulf of Mexico. There will be plenty of stops along the way for photography.

Tuesday 10th November 2009
We have a morning city tour around the fascinating colonial town of Merida. The afternoon is free to explore the colourful streets and markets to capture those little cameos of Mexico.

Day 15:
Wednesday 11th November 2009
We make a very early start for the journey to Chichen Itza, perhaps the most renowned Mayan site in Central America. Considered by some as the eighth wonder of the world we plan an early arrival to get he best light.

Day 16:
Thursday 12th November 2009
In the morning we travel the short distance to the Gulf of Mexico to the Celestun Nature Reserve, famous for its many flamingos. In the evening we fly to Mexico City.

Friday 13th November 2009
We have a city tour including a visit to the Xochimilco Garden and the Mariachi Bands.

Saturday 14th November 2009
We transfer to the airport to join our overnight flight to London.

We arrive in London in the morning.
